Summer in Querétaro, Mexico is not only measured in degrees Celsius, but also in ripe bunches of grapes, clinking glasses, and dirt roads that smell of history and freshly picked grapes. From June to September, the most vibrant wine region in central Mexico dresses up for a party: the 2025 Harvest Season begins, a sensory experience where wine is the star and the land is the hostess.
The route of flavor and the senses
Every year, more than 400,000 visitors travel the Art, Cheese, and Wine Route, leaving behind a trail of laughter, toasts, and memories that translate into an economic impact of more than 300 million pesos. This route, which winds its way through century-old haciendas, boutique vineyards, and artisan cheese factories, has made Querétaro an unmissable ecotourism destination.
“The harvest is not just a harvest. It is a celebration of an entire process that begins in the earth and culminates in the glass,” said Rodrigo Ibarra, director of tourism promotion for the state. And he is right. Attending a harvest in Querétaro is to witness the alchemy of wine from its roots.
Experiences that intoxicate the soul
In 2025, more than 35 wineries have joined the harvest calendar, offering a range of activities from classic tastings and grape stomping to vineyard tours, dinner pairings under the stars, musical performances, and craft exhibitions. There are experiences for everyone: romantic couples, adventurous families, and friends looking for adventure, said Eugenio Parrodi, president of the Querétaro Wine Cluster.
At a recent press conference, Halina Gama, director of the Querétaro Wine Cluster, presented the calendar of events, which kicked off on June 14, 2025, with the Marqués Haciendas and Vineyards Festival and culminates on September 13, 2025, with the grand finale at Viñedos Azteca. In between, a constellation of wineries such as Sala Vivé, Puerta del Lobo, Cava Donato, San Juanito, and Hacienda Atongo will open their doors to offer unique experiences.
Sparkling wine that conquers borders
Although Querétaro cultivates more than 500 hectares of vines, what really gives this region its character is its excellence. 80% of the grapes are used exclusively for wine production, resulting in more than 3.5 million bottles per year with more than 300 different labels.
But if there is a jewel in this wine-growing crown, it is the sparkling wine, made using traditional methods. Queretaro sparkling wine has conquered international palates, exporting more than 60,000 cases a year to destinations such as the United States, Asia, and Europe.
Accommodation among the vineyards
The tourist infrastructure accompanies this boom: 246 hotels, more than 5,000 rooms, and 11 artisan cheese shops complement the experience. Here, you not only drink good wine, but you also relax among dreamlike landscapes and taste cheese made by expert hands.
Experience the harvest
The Harvest Season in Querétaro is not just an event, it is an invitation to disconnect from the everyday and reconnect with the essential: the land, the flavor, the company. It is watching a purple sunset over the vineyards with a glass in your hand and your soul at peace.
