Along the roads of the Querétaro semi-desert, where the sun caresses the earth with golden intensity and the winds whisper among rows of vines, one of the most eagerly awaited festivals of the year is being prepared: the Festival of San Juan, which marks the start of the 2025 harvest. An event where wine, tradition, and festive spirit intertwine in a sensory tribute to the land and its fruits.
On June 28, Viñedo San Juanito, in coordination with the Secretariat of Tourism of the State of Querétaro, will celebrate the Feast of San Juan with an unforgettable experience for the whole family. The event will take place in the heart of the Bernal Valley, where the landscapes look like something out of a postcard and wine becomes the thread that ties together a day full of magic. This marks the beginning of the traditional wine harvest in the state of Querétaro.
From early in the morning, visitors can walk among sun-drenched vineyards, observe the clusters of grapes that herald the coming harvest, and immerse themselves in the cellars, where silence and coolness guard the secrets of each bottle. One of the most eagerly awaited activities will be the traditional grape treading, a ritual that evokes the ancestral roots of wine and provides memorable moments that are perfect for souvenir photos.
Wine as ambassador for Querétaro
During a press conference, Erika Contreras, special projects coordinator for the State Tourism Secretariat, highlighted that events such as this reflect the cultural and natural wealth of the region.
“Querétaro is now a national benchmark for wine tourism,” and it's no wonder: the Art, Cheese, and Wine Route attracts more than 1.5 million visitors a year and generates an economic impact of over four billion pesos.
Viñedos San Juanito: more than a vineyard, a living experience
The vineyard is located in the Bernal Valley and has several hectares planted with Malbec, Tinta de Bernal, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for red wines and Xarel-lo, Macabeo, and Parellada for white wines. This varietal diversity allows them to offer complex, elegant wines that are deeply linked to the Querétaro region.
San Juanito has prepared an agenda that combines the best of viticulture with experiential tourism: vineyard and winery tours, grape stomping, equestrian shows, live music and DJs, as well as spaces for tastings, sensory exercises and a variety of gastronomic offerings.
The atmosphere at the boutique vineyard is intimate and authentic. Every corner invites you to take your time, discover aromas, textures, and landscapes that will remain in your memory.
The harvest of history, tradition, and excellence in every bottle
Antonio Treviño Salazar, director of operations, and winemaker Antonio Treviño Martínez shared details about the quality of the vineyard and their latest pride and joy: the San Juanito Gran Reserva Syrah, awarded a gold medal at the 22nd Bacchus International Wine Competition 2024.
Between tradition and flavors: A feast for all the senses
The harvest is much more than a wine event. It is a celebration that brings together tradition, music, and gastronomy under the golden light of sunset. From outdoor shows to tasting areas and food trucks, everything is designed to create a warm, festive, and sophisticated atmosphere.
Beyond wine, the experience is an invitation to reconnect with the rhythms of nature, to toast calmly and enjoy a day where time seems to stand still amid glasses, laughter and breathtaking landscapes.
