¡Latin Food Fest! Will Highlight Local Hispanic Fare
Sponsors Sought
Latin food is extremely popular in the United States, but many don’t understand the deep culinary traditions behind the food. That may change, thanks to a seven-city series of programs called ¡Latin Food Fest!.
¡Latin Food Fest!, which is being developed by Dialogo, a public relations firm specializing in the Hispanic market, will start in San Diego on September 12-15. The four-day program will highlight the work of 70 regional restaurants, chefs, artisanal foods makers, and renowned wine, craft beer, and spirit purveyors. This cornucopia of Latin fare will be featured in 20 events, including an opening party, chef benefit dinners, wine and tequila tastings, and more.
“I think the consumer is so much more sophisticated regarding the Hispanic food genre over the past several years,” says Richie Matthews, co-founder of Dialogo and co-director of the fest.
Matthews says they expect 5,000 patrons to attend the event, which will be funded through ticket sales and sponsorships. The restaurants invited to showcase their food will not pay a penny to be there, he says. “The name of the game is to showcase the restaurants.”
The San Diego event will be followed by ¡Latin Food Fest! in New Orleans, Austin, Portland, Nashville, Chicago, and New York, though dates and locations are not firm yet for those subsequent events.
The events in each city will feature the local Hispanic specialties, so local restaurants and food purveyors in each part of the country will be able to get some exposure. “We expect each Food Fest will be unique,” Matthews says.
Part of each Fest will also be a fundraiser for a local cause and a national cause. The Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank and a clean-water organization called Wine to Water will benefit from the San Diego event.
Matthews welcomes inquiries from potential sponsors. He can be reached at Richie@latinfoodfest.com. More information about the event can be found at http://www.latinfoodfest.com
