Customers who love Mexican food for dinner presumably also love Mexican-style desserts. That’s the idea behind a new dual-concept restaurant debuting in Tempe, Arizona. Frutilandia, which specializes in shaved ice, fresas con crema, and other Mexican treats, and Taqueria Factory, which specializes in tacos, birria ramen and micheladas, have teamed up to open several dual-branded stores in 2024.
Both concepts are owned by the same family, the Garfios. Frutilandia, founded in 2006, has 10 locations in Arizona. Taqueria Factory was founded two years ago and has three locations. The first joint location will open on January 20. Two existing Frutilandia locations will convert to dual-concept stores later in 2024.
“We are excited to premiere this unique, dual-concept restaurant in the vibrant community of Tempe,” said Gamaliel Garfio, the co-founder of Frutilandia and Taqueria Factory, in a statement. “By combining the best of both worlds with Frutilandia and Taqueria Factory, we aim to provide our guests with an enhanced food and beverage experience in a one-stop location.”
This is the first time both concepts will be located together, but they have worked together before. The margaritas at Taqueria Factory “are only made with real fruit purees in collaboration with Frutilandia,” according to the company’s website.
