Co-owned by Arturo Olivares and Jose Gutierrez, the restaurant features dishes like torta ahogada, lonches de pierna, and pozole, alongside Salvadoran pupusas, showcasing the diverse culinary skills of the kitchen team. El Catrin Restaurant & Bar recently opened its second location on the far North Side of San Antonio. The new establishment at 21025 Encino Commons opens daily at 9 a.m. This location mirrors the Alamo Heights original in menu offerings, which in its first year became well known in the city's Mexican cuisine scene. The menu, overseen by owner and experienced San Antonio restaurateur Federico Guillen, includes breakfast and brunch favorites like eggs, pancakes, and chilaquiles, as well as lunch and dinner dishes such as enchiladas, huaraches, and seafood. Cafe Tacuba, Cedar Rapids, IA
Cafe Tacuba has opened in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch dinner with home cooking inspired by co-owner Ozzy Aguirre’s family in Guadalajara and Mexico City. Aguirre's mother, grandmother and aunts flew in from Mexico to teach the new staff, he said. “Our goal is to bring the true flavor from Mexico,” Aguirre said in an article in The Cedar Rapids Gazette. Co-owner Ariel Barrios was previously a partner in La Cantina’s downtown Cedar Rapids location and Aguirre was previously known for his margaritas as Mas Margaritas, which he left in October.
