Mariposa Mexican Cuisine, a new dining spot offering authentic tacos, cactus fries, and other Mexican delicacies, recently opened at 5 S. 3rd St. in Newark, OH, where the well-known restaurant Barrel & Boar once stood. Alex and Stephanie Athan, who bought Barrel & Boar six months prior, transformed the space into a mural-filled setting that celebrates Mexico's rich culture. The menu boasts a variety of tacos catering to different diets, along with other dishes like enchiladas and shrimp albondigas. The name "Mariposa," which means butterfly in Spanish, holds special significance for Stephanie, inspired by Frida Kahlo's artwork and a personal family saying. Click here to read more.
Pachengo's, Atlanta
Pachengo’s, a new restaurant concept by Pietro Gianni and Stephen Peterson, known for their popular Italian restaurants, opened on August 16 in the Buckhead Village neighborhood of Atlanta. The casual Mexican taqueria, inspired by the heritage of many of its culinary staff, offers daily lunch and dinner services. The menu, curated by Mexico City-born chefs Omar and Guadalupe Santamaria, features authentic Mexican dishes, with plans to introduce breakfast dishes in the coming months.
