Austin’s iconic Fonda San Miguel is bringing back its popular buffet to celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. The March 6 Celebración de Mujeres, presented by Fonda San Miguel’s Executive Chef Blanca Zesati and Executive Pastry Chef Natalie Gazaui, recalls the famous Sunday buffets during which the late Executive Chef Miguel Ravago guided patrons through a selection of dishes from various regions of Mexico.
The popular Sunday event was discontinued due to the pandemic and owner Tom Gilliland has been considering its return; Celebración de Mujeres provided the perfect opportunity to recreate the event.
“What better way to celebrate the many contributions of women worldwide than to feature a dozen savory dishes from the interior regions of Mexico in a buffet-style setting,” said Chef Zesari. She added, “Our guests will also be enjoying the debut of Natalie's in-demand pan dulce creations."
Celebración de Mujeres is the first of many special occasions throughout the year leading to Fonda San Miguel’s 50th Anniversary in 2025.
