The editorial content of el Restaurante is the heart of our brand. The articles are written by professional journalists with long experience in the Mexican/Latin restaurant community. Editor Kathleen Furore, who writes many articles, has been with the magazine since it was founded in 1997. Publisher Ed Avis, who also frequently writes articles, helped found the magazine with Kathleen in 1997, and rejoined the publication in 2012.
The content in 2018 -- a combination of articles focused on cuisine, business topics, personalities, and restaurant profiles -- will inspire readers to reach new heights.
We are introducing new changes to our editorial mix in 2018:
- First, we are launching a "Who's Who" in the Mexican/Latin foodservice industry feature. Each issue will contain a Who's Who section that focuses on a different U.S. region. The section will include an article about a veteran of the industry and an up-and-comer. In addition, that section will include brief profiles of other important players in that region.
- Second, we are revisiting a concept we covered many years ago: Regional Mexican cuisine. In 2018 we will focus on the cuisine of some of the less well known regions, including Aguascalientes and Campeche, that have fascinating cuisine that U.S. restaurants can add to their menus.

"The thing that is important to me, and el Restaurante covers this perfectly, is that people are starting to understand the breadth and diversity of Mexican cuisine. We are just scratching the surface of how unique and exciting Mexican food is, and el Restaurante is showing us where this industry is going in the future. It’s a great magazine." Jim Urdiales, Mestizo Restaurant
