Pupusas is the newest product in the Performance Foodservice Contigo® line. Pupusas, which are found in Salvadorean cuisine, are thick discs of corn/masa flour that are combined with savory ingredients, flattened and griddle cooked to create a crispy and delicious sandwich-style meal. Contigo® Pupusas are similar to arepas or gorditas but have their own unique preparation and flavors offering the convenience of a hand-held or plated food item. Contigo® Pupusas come in cheese, pork and cheese, and bean and cheese varieties.
Traditionally, Pupusas are served with curtido, a tangy vinegar-based cabbage and carrot slaw and Salsa Roja; both of which impart a tangy flavor that marries beautifully with the savory filling.
Contigo® Pupusas are a generous 5.5 ounce portion each, and they are packed 50 per case in 4/4.5 LB bags per box. They are fully cooked and arrive frozen and once thawed need only a quick warm up on a hot griddle or an oven before they are ready to serve and enjoy.
