Interested in learning about the agave industry from within its home territory? Then consider attending Mundo Mezcal on October 16-18 at the Gardens of the Campo Marte Restaurant in Mexico City. This will be the second edition of the event, which drew more than 8,000 attendees, nearly 400 exhibitors, and set a world record with 457 mezcal labels in 2025.
The festival has established itself as an international benchmark within the agave spirits industry, and this year will feature the state of Tamaulipas as the guest of honor.
A Return with a Purpose
In 2025, Mundo Mezcal made a strong debut with an estimated economic impact of 50 million pesos, and the largest exhibition of mezcal and agave distillate labels in the world.
“In 2025, Mundo Mezcal planted three fundamental concepts: to protect, learn, and strengthen the category of Mexican artisanal agave spirits. Today we see how those seeds are sprouting into certifications and real opportunities for producer communities,” said Marisol Rumayor, General Coordinator of Mundo Mezcal.
Now, 2026 marks the beginning of a new phase. The project is maturing with the intention of becoming a living ecosystem that brings together culture, production, and marketing, positioning mezcal as a rapidly expanding industry.
Over the past decade, mezcal production in Mexico has increased more than elevenfold, reaching nearly 12 million liters annually. 97% is produced using artisanal methods, and 70% is already exported to markets such as the United States, Europe, Japan, and Australia (COMERCAM, 2025).
For the second consecutive year, Banco Azteca joins as Official Presenter, reaffirming its commitment to those who transform the earth’s bounty into world-class spirits. In addition, it will make the Mi Negocio Cash Loan program available to producers, with amounts of up to $200,000 pesos and competitive terms.
Another edition celebrating the regional richness of agave
The second edition will feature over 10,000 m² of exhibition space, a selection of more than 250 brands, and the participation of experts and mezcal enthusiasts. The aim is to delve deeper into the content and strengthen the connection with the entire agave value chain.
In addition to Tamaulipas as the guest of honor, states such as Aguascalientes, Campeche, Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Michoacán, and Sonora will participate, reinforcing the regional diversity that defines this industry.
Mundo Mezcal 2026 is supported by brands and organizations such as Anfora, Jabalí Cerveza Artesanal, Etiqus, Almas Benditas, Pinturas Acuario, Casa Xamu, Yuu Baal, and Koatle, along with institutions such as the Mexico City Hotel Association, the Association of Maguey and Artisanal Mezcal, A.C. (AMMA), the Mexican Association of Secretaries of Agricultural Development (AMSDA), the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (CANACINTRA), the Sonoran Regulatory Council for Bacanora (CSRB), the Mexico City Mixed Fund for Tourism Promotion, the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), and the Ministry of Economy.
Mundo Mezcal 2026 is not just an event; it is the confirmation of a movement that is growing with deep roots and a vision for the future. In every bottle, every story, and every community, the strength of an industry that evolves without losing its essence is reflected.
