After advancing all the way to round 9 of America's Culinary Cup, Chef Katie Button’s run came to an end on April 29. The chef/owner of Latin-inspired Curate in Ashville, South Carolina was eliminated during the “World Cuisine” challenge that asked the final five chefs to prepare a dumpling, a rice, and a noodle dish inspired by three different world cuisines.
Button chose Spain, Peru and Mexico. And while she topped the other four finalists in the rice round, her low scores in the dumpling and noodle rounds led to elimination.
“It is incredibly humbling to make it to the final five and then not make it all the way to the end,” Button said. “This is mentally, physically and emotionally exhausting. I am so honored to have made it this far and held up my own."
The next round of competition, hosted by former “Top Chef” host Padma Lakshmi, will air Wednesday, May 13, at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and stream the next day on Paramount+.
