Can a meal help change a woman’s story?
That is the question behind Flavors That Change Stories, an initiative that brings together the culinary industry, companies, organizations, and consumers around a common purpose: to generate resources that make tools for the early detection of breast cancer accessible to more women in Mexico.
The idea is simple yet powerful: to transform an everyday experience—ordering a dish, choosing a dessert, enjoying a glass of rosé, or toasting with a cocktail—into an opportunity to contribute to prevention.
The initiative has set a concrete goal: to help provide 5,000 free screenings, mobilizing restaurants, brands, media outlets, opinion leaders, and consumers to achieve this.
More than just an awareness campaign, “Sabores que Cambian Historias” proposes a collaborative platform where gastronomy serves as a meeting point between consumption, awareness, and action.
From the Table to Impact
During the campaign, participating restaurants will develop a special dish or select a pink-colored beverage. For each of these offerings, 50% of the sale price will go toward the campaign, while the restaurant will retain the remaining 50%.
In this way, consumer participation takes on additional meaning. Choosing one of these products is not only part of the dining experience—it also generates a contribution to fund early-detection screenings.
The campaign kicked off on October 1 and will culminate on December 20 with an event to present the results.
The goal is to demonstrate that a social impact initiative can be naturally integrated into consumer behavior while also producing measurable results. It’s a formula that brings together restaurants, partners, and diners around a cause that extends beyond the table.
An Initiative with Concrete Goals
Flavors That Change Stories was created with the intention of turning collaboration between different sectors into measurable results. For its first edition, the initiative has set five objectives:
- To help provide 5,000 free early-detection screenings.
- To bring together more than 150 restaurants, chefs, companies, and brands in a purpose-driven collaborative network. Among the restaurants that have joined this first edition are TESTAL Cocina Mexicana de Origen, Trattoria Grata, IHOP, Umbral, Somma Rooftop, Casa Marena, Tacos Romita, Fónico, and Gran Cantina Filomeno—establishments that share a commitment to contributing to a cause that seeks to make a real impact.
- Mobilizing consumers, turning an everyday choice into a contribution to prevention.
- Generating conversation and awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer.
- Bringing prevention tools to more women in Mexico, expanding the campaign’s impact beyond the participating restaurants.
To achieve these goals, the strategy aims to generate visibility and conversation around early detection by engaging restaurants, brands, media outlets, opinion leaders, influencers, and consumers. In this way, each participating establishment becomes a meeting point between gastronomy and a cause that seeks to transform an everyday experience into an act of prevention and solidarity.
An Alliance Between Gastronomy, Prevention, and Society
One of the pillars of “Sabores que Cambian Historias” is the creation of a network of partners capable of expanding the initiative’s reach on various fronts.
The campaign features the participation of the Mexican restaurant association CANIRAC as a strategic partner in the restaurant sector; Mujeres In-Taninos, the organization that will drive the conversation and serve as a voice for the initiative; and SI a la salud, the institution responsible for administering the screenings.
The combination of these capabilities aims to connect the culinary industry with organizations and specialists to take the message of prevention beyond a mere communication campaign and turn it into concrete actions.
The spokeswomen from Mujeres In-Taninos will contribute to this conversation by addressing topics such as prevention, social participation, and the role that partnerships between companies, organizations, and the public can play in generating a broader impact.
Restaurants That Turn Creativity Into Action
Each participating restaurant will have the opportunity to develop its own creation linked to the campaign and turn it into an experience that allows diners to easily participate in the cause.
The initiative is rooted in a conviction: gastronomy can be much more than a place to eat and share. It can also become a vehicle for mobilizing resources, sparking conversation, and bringing prevention to more people.
