Alta Baja Market in Santa Ana, California, winner of the el Restaurante Independent Restaurant of the Year in 2021, was awarded a $30,000 grant from Siete Foods Juntos Fund.
Alta Baja Market owner Delilah Snell told the story of their victory in her newsletter:
"I [applied] for the Siete Juntos Fund this year. I told them that I would use the grant to build out our kitchen (which, as regulars know, we desperately need), stock more products and just do more for our customers and community with this business. We crossed our fingers (and toes!) and one of our team members made an altar filled with the hopes and dreams for Alta Baja. If you have been in the shop recently, you might have seen it (we also talk about it on Instagram). This past Monday, in a surprise visit by KTLA 5 News reporter Annie Rose Ramos, we found out that we won a $30k grant (the second-largest prize). If you want to see the clip, check it our HERE."
