Chef Enrique Olvera has won international acclaim for fine dining Mexican cuisine at Pujol in Mexico City, ranked one of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants ever since its debut in 2000. Now, Olvera (who today has five restaurants throughout Mexico, five Mexican locations of his all-day café Eno, plus Cosme, Atla, and Esse Taco in New York City, and Damian and another Atla in Los Angeles) has turned his attention to tacos in Sunny Days, Taco Nights, published by Phaidon Press.
The new book from Olvera and his co-author, food critic Alonso Ruvalcaba, is the ultimate insider’s guide to preparing and enjoying authentic tacos, which have always been the chef’s guilty pleasure.
Sunny Days, Taco Nights features 100 recipes, organized in two sections: “Classics” featuring recipes including Tacos al Carbon, Baja Style Fish Tacos and Suadero Tacos, and “Originals” showcasing his contemporary, creative reinventions such as Ceviche Tacos, and Pork Belly Tacos with smoked beans. Beautiful photographs of each taco by Araceli Paz are highlights of the cookbook.
The book is available for pre-order from Phaidon; it is scheduled to ship starting June 3. Watch for a recipe from the book in el Restaurante’s Recipe of the Week coming soon!
