Kendall College School of Culinary Arts Dedicates “Great Chefs Kitchen” to Rick Bayless
Chef Rick Bayless can add another honor to his impressive list of accomplishments. On Friday, April 12, Chicago’s Kendall College School of Culinary Arts dedicated its “Great Chefs Kitchen” to Bayless in recognition of his commitment to sustainability, to elevating and promoting authentic Mexican cuisine across the United States, and to the school’s culinary arts program.
A founding member of Boston-based Chefs Collaborative (an organization that supports environmentally sound agricultural practices), Bayless is active in the hunger advocacy organization, Share Our Strength; hosts the PBS television series, “Mexico – One Plate at a Time”; has written seven award-winning cookbooks dedicated to Mexican cuisine; and has a longstanding relationship with Kendall College. In 2007, he and wife Deanne Bayless also launched the Frontera Scholarship, which includes full tuition to Kendall College School of Culinary Arts for a Mexican-American student.
The “Great Chefs Kitchen” at Kendall College will pay tribute to one chef per year with a dedication and opportunity to connect with students.
