Fans of great Mexican cuisine and art can look forward to new event: The International Festival of Art, Cheese and Wine, which will take place from May 22 to June 8 in Tequisquiapan in the Mexican state of Queretaro.
The festival will feature the participation of 20 national wineries, 10 cheese makers, as well as local producers and restaurants from Tequisquiapan. A Spanish Pavilion will feature Iberian wineries such as Virtus, Bornos and Freixenet. There will be guided tastings, themed events, gastronomic experiences, interactive activities and specialized workshops.
In addition, during the festival, the first Queretaro wine competition will be held. Internationally renowned judges will rate the participating wines. It is worth mentioning that Querétaro wine has just obtained its Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), positioning it as a benchmark for quality.
Tequisquiapan, which is one of Mexico’s famous “Pueblos Mágico” (Magical Towns), is a destination of excellence for cultural, wine and gastronomic tourism. It offers a wide range of tourist attractions and experiences for visitors, as well as a hotel infrastructure of more than 1,200 rooms. The festival is estimated to attract more than 60,000 visitors.
“This will be a totally unique concept,” said Héctor Iván Magaña Rentería, the mayor of Tequisquiapan, during a press conference about the festival. “For many years we were told that the best experiences came at a price, but we are convinced of the essence and identity of our magical town, which is not for sale, it is for sharing.”
