Passport to Peru, a three-week celebration of Peruvian gastronomy across the Bay Area, returns for its second year from July 7 to July 27, 2025. Led by La Mar Cocina Peruana, this collaborative culinary initiative encourages diners to experience the diversity and richness of Peruvian cuisine across the Bay Area.
"We're incredibly proud to bring Passport to Peru back this year with a significantly expanded lineup of outstanding Peruvian restaurants from across the Bay Area," said Jason Wiles, General Manager at La Mar Cocina Peruana. "This initiative not only honors Peru's diverse culinary heritage by encouraging diners to try a range of styles and dishes such as a fresh cebiche or savory lomo saltado, but also supports local Peruvian restaurants and businesses, inviting adventurous foodies, travel enthusiasts, and the broader Bay Area community to taste the rich tapestry of Peruvian flavors."
Participating restaurants include La Mar Cocina Peruana, Altamirano, Ayawaska Hilltop, Ayawaska Restobar, Barranco Cocina Peruana, Chotto Matte, El Dorado, El Rincón de Jorgito, La Costanera Cocina Peruana, Limón Burlingame, Limón Oakland, Limón Mountain View, Limón Redwood City, Limón Valencia, Limón Walnut Creek, Lomo Libre, Mariposas, Mochica Peruvian Kitchen, Parada, Paradita, Puerto 27, and Sanguchon.
Passport to Peru encourages diners to visit as many of the 22 restaurants as possible during the three-week period, enjoying at least one main dish at each location. Diners will receive custom-designed "passports" when they begin their journey, and a stamp each time they order an entree at a participating restaurant.
Diners who collect stamps from at least three participating restaurants will be eligible for a chance to win a trip to Lima, Peru, inclusive of two complimentary round-trip economy plane tickets, a four-night stay including an excursion to the Caravedo distillery in Ica with an overnight stay at the hacienda, sumptuous lunch experience at La Mar Cebicheria in Lima, and a 10-course dinner at Gastón Acurio's highly acclaimed restaurant, Astrid & Gastón.
Passport to Peru will culminate on July 27, coinciding with La Mar's annual Peruvian Market Day, celebrating Peru's Independence Day. During the event, sponsored by Caravedo, guests may enjoy live Latin music, local artisans and vendors, and a vibrant culinary experience featuring an array of Peruvian small plates—from a Cebiche and Causa station to Anticuchos, Empanadas, Criollo dishes, and decadent desserts.
