Mexico DF, December 7, 2015 – Whether it's tortillas outselling burger buns or salsa becoming more popular than ketchup, Mexican food (an $8 billion U.S. market) has officially conquered America and is here to stay. And what better treat to give a nation of Mexican food fiends than a new TV show taking them on a virtual journey of the best of the best. Enter Canal 22 Internacional’s “En Ruta-T, tacos, tortas y tamales.” Premiering on Sunday, December 20, at 7:30 p.m. PT/ 10:30 p.m. ET, this docu-series features an epic foodie’s road trip in search of America’s best tacos, tortas and tamales.
Produced by Canal 22, “En Ruta-T, tacos, tortas y tamales” features eleven 30-minute episodes developed to spread the life stories of Mexicans who, through food, have managed to immerse Americans in the culture and cuisine of Mexico. Intersecting modern technology with old world tradition, the show is one of the first to use drones providing a bird’s eye view of the gastronomic and geographical diversity of the United States.
In the series’ mouthwatering first episode, hosts Santi, Alex, and Danky make the first stop of their exciting four-week, 4000-kilometer culinary journey in the sunny beachside city of San Diego, California, where they explore the cultural impact of this border town’s migrant fusion, savor treats from three very different local favorites, and celebrate July 4th the Mexican way.
Where will they end up next? From California to New York, with plenty of stops in between, stay tuned as Santi, Alex, and Danky eat their way across America!
