A few weeks after its first edition, Mundo Mezcal ended its journey of experiences on a high note at Casa Pepe in Mexico City, a space that has become a symbol of Mexico's hospitable and cultural spirit.
More than a hundred representatives from the world of mezcal, including producers, brands, academics, and institutional partners, gathered to celebrate an industry that unites tradition, innovation, and community.
Just a few weeks before its grand premiere at the Jardines de Campo Marte on November 1 and 2, Mundo Mezcal (Festival del Agave, Tierras y Sazón) concluded its series of warm-up events at Casa Pepe, which became a meeting point for artisan producers, brand representatives, business and tourism associations, as well as allies from the agave industry.
This gathering marked the end of a journey that, since July, has taken in various iconic locations in Mexico City: Rayo Cocktail Bar, Lobby Malinche, and Casa Pepe Hostel Boutique, which were selected for their deeply Mexican essence. Each venue fused gastronomy, art, music, and hospitality, creating an experience designed to bring the public closer to the stories, flavors, and traditions that give life to agave and its producing communities.
“We are proud to be part of a festival like Mundo Mezcal, which brings together producers, brand owners, and the public in a shared experience,” said Octavio García Méndez, representative of the Modestia Aparte brand, sponsor of the event. He added, "It's not just about mezcal; it's culture, it's tradition, and it's the taste of Mexico in every sip. It's about showing the world who we are, because what is made in Mexico is made better."
Mundo Mezcal is organized by Disruptive Labs, Desachy Producciones, and Neuma Comunicación, with the support of Banco Azteca as the official presenter, as well as the support of the Ministry of Economy of the Government of Mexico, the Government of the State of Campeche (guest state), the Ministry of Economic Development of Mexico City (host city), and the Mexico City Tourism Promotion Fund.
Its sponsors include Amor Prohibido, Loma Noble, Modestia Aparte, Gusano Rojo, Bruxo, Mano de Santo, Anncestra, Libbey, Sizes & Colors, FEMSA, TotalPlay, Proyensa Spirits, Rayo Cocktail Bar, Anfora, Etiqus, Royal Gas, Kibrit, Hielo Club, and Grupo Haro.
The festival also has the support of institutional partners, such as the Mexican Academy of Sommeliers, the Mexico City Hotel Association, the Mexican Mezcal Quality Regulatory Council (COMERCAM), the National Association of Supermarkets and Department Stores (ANTAD), the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (CANACINTRA), the Association of Maguey and Artisanal Mezcal (AMMA), Clip Spirits of Mexico, CMI, the Sonora Regulatory Council of Bacanora, and Doña Diva.
“Mexico City is committed to raising awareness and promoting this type of event, which, beyond entertainment and tourism, preserves and promotes tradition and culture,” said Amanda Chávez Pérez, representative of the Mexico City Ministry of Economic Development. She added, "behind every distillate there is a story, from its production to the registration of each brand; That is why, in the capital, the heart of agave, we are happy to welcome you to Campo Marte."
In its first edition, Mundo Mezcal will bring together more than 600 exhibitors and 7,000 attendees in a multisensory experience with guided tastings, conferences, workshops, food samples, and artistic expressions. More than a festival, it is a platform to dignify the producing communities, promote responsible consumption, and project the cultural and economic value of Mexican agave to the world.
