Great salsas are part of great dining experiences in Mexican restaurants. If you make especially good salsa, we want to know about it! For the second consecutive year, we are partnering with Sammic to uncover great salsa recipes through the el Restaurante Sassiest Salsa Contest.
Last year’s winning salsas were innovative and delicious. Pickled Jicama Verde Salsa by Chef James Lane won first place. It was called “original, risky, and with a very sophisticated and elegant flavor” by Sammic Corporate Chef Enrique Fleischmann. Second place was Salsa Macha by Angel Miranda at Flying Taco Mexican Grill in Towanda, Pennsylvania and third place was Salsa de Nopal by Christopher Morrill at Taco Shop in El Paso, Texas. Click here to read about these salsas and their recipes.
Entering the contest is easy, and the prizes make it totally worth it: The creator of the first place recipe will receive a Sammic XM-52 Immersion Blender, the ultimate tool for mixing salsa! And the top three winners will get a cash prize: $750, $500 and $250, respectively. To top it off, all of the winning recipes will be used in our Recipe-of-the-Week email program and be published in the Nov/Dec edition of el Restaruante.
“We know how important great salsa is to a Mexican restaurant, and we are happy to continue supporting a contest that encourages chefs to create new salsa recipes,” says Neal Pearlman, sales director, North America, for Sammic. “And we know that Sammic immersion blenders are an essential tool for restaurants making their own salsa, so offering them as prizes for this contest made sense.”
To enter the contest, click here and complete the form. The deadline has been extended to September 30, 2024. Your recipe needs to be an original creation, and remember that we’ll publish the winners, so don’t send us a recipe that you’re trying to keep secret. The recipes will be judged by experienced chefs and the winners will be announced in September. Good luck!
