El Mural de los Poblanos, an iconic restaurant in the capital of Puebla, Mexico, was honored on February 2 for its outstanding selection of national wines in the Best Mexican Wine List program by the Guía México Gastronómico 2026. The award is sponsored by the Consejo Mexicano Vitivinícola (Mexican Wine Council).
"At the Consejo Mexicano Vitivinícola, we are proud to sponsor this award,” said Salomón Abedrop, president of the Consejo Mexicano Vitivinícola. “More and more Mexicans are choosing us: Today, 39 out of every 100 bottles uncorked in the country are of national origin. The synergy between a vibrant gastronomic scene and the wines produced in our 17 wine-growing regions continues to grow rapidly. The recognition of the Best Mexican Wine List highlights the relevance of our labels and encourages their consumption.”
The award given to El Mural de los Poblanos distinguishes not only its passion for Mexican wines, but also its commitment to Mexican products and to the agricultural vocation that gives rise to each label.
“This recognition not only honors us, it honors the land, the producers, and the Mexican winemakers. We are deeply proud of our careful selection of more than 250 labels, a list that not only celebrates Mexican wine, but also accompanies and enhances each dish of Puebla cuisine, offering our guests a complete and memorable experience,” said Luis Javier Cué, restaurateur.
With 19 years of experience, El Mural de los Poblanos has established itself as a benchmark for Mexican cuisine and a leading exponent of regional cuisine. Its tables offer an authentic experience that celebrates the history, identity, and culture of Puebla de los Ángeles.
“We have been committed to Mexican wine for years; today our wine list includes more than 250 national labels. This award means a lot to us because it encourages us to continue strengthening the culture of Mexican wine,” added Jonathan Robles, the restaurant's sommelier.
The México Gastronómico 2026 Guide gala, held in Puebla, brought together more than 750 chefs and key figures from the national culinary scene for an evening dedicated to celebrating the talent, passion, and dedication that have positioned Mexico as a global benchmark for cuisine. This recognition also highlights the country's potential to continue innovating and excelling on the international wine and gastronomic scene.
