A new cooking competition series premiering Wednesday, March 4 on CBS will feature Chicago’s Diana Davila, chef/owner of acclaimed Mi Tocaya Antojeria, who will be competing with 15 other elite chefs for $1 million — the biggest cash prize ever awarded the winner of a TV cooking competition.
Throughout the new 'America’s Culinary Cup' series — hosted by former “Top Chef” host Padma Lakshmi — chefs will be evaluated on taste, creativity, presentation, and technique to determine who advances, who is eliminated and who ultimately masters the show’s “10 culinary commandments” in meat, vegetables, sauces, dessert, innovation, flavors, sustainability, world cuisine, consistency and culinary science/technology to take home the $1 million prize.
“I’m so excited to finally share that I’m a contestant on America’s Culinary Cup on @cbstv hosted by @padmalakshmi. I’ll be standing alongside Michelin-starred chefs, Bocuse d’Or medalists, and multiple James Beard Award winners and nominees. Being part of this group is surreal,” Davila recently shared @dianalachef. “What makes this moment especially meaningful is knowing I’m stepping into this space with my community in mind. I’m proud to represent Latino voices in the kitchen; our stories, our flavors, and the level of excellence that has always been there, even when it hasn’t always been visible.”Davila also credited the employees behind Mi Tocaya’s success.
“None of this happens without the @mitocaya team,” she wrote. “This opportunity is built on years of hard work, trust, and love in that kitchen. Thank you for holding it down and believing in me!!!”
“America’s Culinary Cup” airs at 8:30 p.m. CT, 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on CBS, and streams on Paramount +.
