More than 4,000 people and 85 wineries participated in Banorte Nación de Vinos 2026 on January 28 and 29 at Campo Marte in Mexico City. The seventh edition of this annual event brought together winemakers, producers, sommeliers, restaurants, and cocktail bars for networking and business building.
“Nación de vinos has established itself as the most important platform for Mexican wine: an open space for celebration, discovery, and encounter, where wine is experienced without barriers,” said Daniela Mijares, general director of Paladar, a gastronomic agency in Mexico and Latin America that organized the event.
On the first day, a forum called Espacio B2B brought together more than 200 decision-makers—sommeliers, buyers, restaurateurs, and distributors—and more than 80 wineries. Curated and organized by sommeliers Sandra Fernández and Andrés Amor, this event included tastings and commercial networking designed to spark relationships to strengthen the market strategy of Mexican wineries.
A new business initiative -- a direct wine sales scheme -- was introduced. It offers preferential prices and additional benefits for those who pay with Banorte cards, encouraging consumption and tangible support for national wine.
Several honors and awards were presented at the event.
The “Made in Mexico” seal was awarded to Banorte Nación de Vinos itself in recognition of its role in consolidating the national wine industry.
Two Nación Awards were presented:
- Sustainability and Environment: awarded to Mogor Badán (Baja California) for its commitment to sustainable philosophy.
- Wine Career: awarded to Hugo D'Acosta (Casa de Piedra), a key figure in the history of Mexican wine.
The Baja California Ministry of Tourism participated with an immersive experience inspired by the state's seven wine valleys, reaffirming the region as the heart of Mexican wine tourism.
The gastronomic offering included cuisine from eight restaurants, among them Carmela y Sal, Pargot, and La Docena, as well as four renowned cocktail bars. The Heineken terrace hosted a beer and food pairing event organized by Comal Oculto, a restaurant recognized in the 2025 Michelin Guide. The iconic Sonora Santanera closed the event, getting everyone dancing to classics such as La Boa and Perfume de Gardenias.
Banorte Nación de Vinos is sponsored by Grupo Financiero Banorte, BMW, the Baja California Ministry of Tourism, the San Luis Potosí Ministry of Tourism, Heineken, Hotel Camino Real Polanco, Dolores Premium, Lieb, El Califa, Hisense, EcoShell, and Soft Restaurant.
