Lisa Dahl
Celebrated chef/restaurateur Lisa Dahl will officially launch the Lisa Dahl Foundation, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to addressing severe food insecurity across Arizona's Native American communities, with a gala weekend benefit at her Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill in Sedona, Arizona on Friday, December 12.
The Forgotten Peoples Tribute Luncheon will kick off with a screening of the award-winning documentary Lisa Dahl: Blessed By Grace (VIEW TRAILER), followed by a commemoration of Native American culture featuring expert musicians and heritage storytelling, and a Latin luncheon paired with Daou wines and live music.
The weekend will continue with the Celebrazione Festa at her flagship Dahl & Di Luca Ristorante Italiano on Saturday, December 13 (which also includes a screening of the documentary), followed by an Artisanal Pizza & Wine Brunch with Lisa Dahl at her Pisa Lisa on Sunday, December 14.
The festivities are all designed to support the foundation and its cornerstone: Lisa Dahl's Soup Hope, a plant-based, gluten-free Minestra blending 27 heirloom beans and legumes with vibrant vegetables, fresh herbs, and restorative spices that provides nearly a full day's nutrition per serving. The soup initially will be distributed to food-insecure Native American communities across Arizona, where systemic issues and food deserts have created urgent need. Lisa is developing a shelf-stable retail jarred Soup Hope that will feed hunger and fuel a sustainable model in which retail sales will directly support and expand the Foundation's humanitarian outreach.
The Lisa Dahl Foundation is rooted in love, service, and the resilience of a mother whose grief has grown into a movement. After her son Justin was murdered in the 1990s while helping someone in need, she found healing through cooking and in 1995 opened Dahl & Di Luca as a tribute to their shared love of cooking.
In addition to Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill, Dahl & Di Luca, and Pisa Lisa, Dahl’s restaurants include Cucina Rustica and Butterfly Burger — all set on sacred land from Native American tribes of the Hopi, Navajo, Tonto Apaches, and Yavapai people.
