For the first time in Mexico, cider and perry have their own specialized platform. Copa Kallisti 2026 is the first national competition dedicated exclusively to cider, perry (pear cider), and their derivatives, with the aim of promoting their culture, raising quality standards, and recognizing the producers who are transforming the craft beverage landscape in the country.
Endorsed by the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) and based on its 2025 Style Guide, the cup aspires to become a national and international benchmark for beverages made from apples and pears.
The competition will take place in Mexico City on August 14 and 15, 2026. The results will be announced on August 15, 2026, via official social media (@copakallisti).
Evaluation method
Samples will be evaluated according to the BJCP 2025 Cider Style Guide, under the following criteria:
- Aroma
- Appearance
- Flavor
- Overall impression
The evaluation will be strictly blind. The results will be confidential and delivered only to each producer or representative.
Categories
Ciders and perries must be registered according to the official BJCP 2025 styles.
- The final categories will be established at the close of registration.
- Minimum of 6 labels per category.
- The committee may regroup or divide categories based on participation.
- Samples with special ingredients or processes must specify the base style and ingredient/process.
Judging
Each sample will be evaluated by a panel of at least three judges, including at least:
- A BJCP-certified judge or equivalent, or
- A master producer with proven experience in competitions.
Impartiality is guaranteed in the case of participating judges.
Awards
Medals will be awarded by category:
Gold – Outstanding, world-class example of the style.
Silver – Excellent expression with slight variations.
Bronze – Good example of the style with minimal deviations.
The jury may declare any medal void if the standard is not met.
Awards will be digital and sent after the ceremony.
