Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat for 2024 list is out — and Latin-themed Tumerico Café in Tucson holds the #1 spot on the list. Fourteen other Mexican- and Latin-themed restaurants also made the list.
“I felt super excited and happy! It’s great news for the restaurant and all the Tumerico team,” chef/owner Wendy Garcia told el Restaurante when we reached out for her reaction to the honor. “I was like Whattttt???? Number 1? I’m still kind of assimilating the news.”
Garcia says cooking is just part of who she is, and says Tumerico features “recipes I grew up eating with my family (mom, dad, grandma, tios, tias, primos).
“When I thought of Tumerico 10 years ago, I wanted to cook delicious, tasty food but also the warm feeling of home and love,” she continues. “I want Tumerico customers to feel love and nourished and enjoy a homemade meal full of flavor. I believe in my heart that food is a form of telling someone you love and care for them.
