The Independent Restaurant Coalition, which is seeking government help for independent restaurants affected by COVID, has created a new video featuring Chef Marcus Samuelsson. the video shows why restaurants deserve help from Congress. Here is the message from the group:
When the pandemic took hold and restaurants were forced to close their doors, we came together to create a coalition with one goal in mind: to save independent restaurants. Five months later, our momentum is strong. But our industry is still in dire need of help.
Our new video, produced by ATTN: featuring Chef Marcus Samuelsson, highlights the immense impact our industry has and why independent restaurants deserve help from Congress. Watch and share it with your networks on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
While many independent restaurants have reopened, they are not in the clear. Local mandates that limit capacities; stringent safety protocols to protect workers and guests; diminished tourism and events business; and a general public that is still largely uneasy about dining out mean that restaurants are still operating at reduced revenues and reduced staff. In some states, we have seen a second round of dining room closures, and in others the threat is looming. Our industry directly provides 11 million jobs – millions of which have already been lost, and all of which are at risk of disappearing – unless Congress acts.
We've never been closer to making that happen: More than 100 members of Congress have already signed on to the RESTAURANTS Act, and with the Senate returning to D.C., we need to continue to generate as much support for this critical legislation as possible. Share this video with your network on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and visit SaveRestaurants.com/take-action to tell Congress to pass the RESTAURANTS Act.
Thanks,
The IRC Team
