Editor’s Note: When Taco Cabana opened their newest location in Spring, Texas on June 14, they revealed a new design called TC 3.0. The design features a patio, a walk-up window, dual drive-throughs, and other elements. We asked Ulyses Camacho, president and COO of the restaurant, for a few more details:
The press release mentioned that the new design has franchisees in mind. What about the design will specifically appeal to franchisees?
It is a smaller footprint, which equates to a cheaper cost of ownership while maximizing the most recent trends in customer fulfillment preferences at the same time. This will make our offering more enticing to potential franchisees, as it can drive more transactions per square foot than older designs.
Tell us a little about the kitchen design - how does it help efficiency and production?
Productivity is at the forefront of the layout so we can make it easy for our teams to service the front counter and drive-thru, as well as prepare food on the grills and tortillas from one position. Margarita machines, which are a core differentiator for our brand, are positioned both DT and front counter for optimal speed of service.
What about the interior -- does the interior feature unique artwork or other design elements?
The design and artwork of the building is part of a new prototype we have been testing. This is the 2nd location with the new look and feel. It incorporates much more modern and trendy elements to appeal to a broader demographic.
What else is special about this new design?
Our guests will notice an additional drive-thru queuing line to expedite service. The added queueing lane will increase customer satisfaction and transaction count. The dual lane drive-through and digital menu boards will help us drive more traffic during peak times to service our guests more quickly.
Who was the architect/designer of the prototype?
We collaborate with a team of experts across various disciplines inclusive of marketing, operations, designers, etc. Additionally we strove to retain heritage elements like our signature brand pink color, papel picado designs, our relaxing patio, all with a contemporary look and new elements like our interior mural, for example.
Are there plans yet for other new locations with this design? When and where?
We are opening a new location with this design in Katy, TX in Q1, 2025.
