The Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago, in partnership with Visit Mexico, will celebrate Mexico Week in Chicago from May 3-12, 2024, kicking off just in time to coincide with this year’s Cinco de Mayo festivities.
While events will celebrate Mexican culture and traditions, cuisine also will be a big part of the celebration. The consulate has created a Mexico Food Route that maps out great spots for authentic Mexican fare at restaurants in various neighborhoods throughout the Windy City and its suburbs.
Travelers will find these offerings and more: exclusive dishes from the heart of Queretero’s culinary traditions from Chef Carlos Gaytán at Tzuco in River North; taco de carnitas surtido from Carnitas Uruapan in Pilsen; Tacos de discada at Raizes Mexican Cocktail Bar + Kitchen in Lakeview; tacos de birria, tacos de hongos veganos estilo pastor and pastel de tres leches at Taquería el Peréz in Oak Lawn; and tamales de mole negro a El Jefe – Leña y Mar in Aurora.
