The Latino Restaurant Association is aiming high in a new fundraiser. The group plans to raise $1 million to help restaurant and food industry workers affected by the current difficult immigration enforcement environment.
“As we continue to witness a disturbing increase in immigration enforcement actions and workplace raids, many of our most vulnerable restaurant and food industry workers—hardworking individuals who form the backbone of our community—are being left without the ability to earn a living,” said LRA Executive Director Lilly Rocha.
The LRA is launching an Emergency Relief Fund to provide direct support in the form of grocery gift cards to those impacted. The grocery gift cards will be distributed through Northgate Markets, ensuring fast and equitable access, Rocha explained.
The LRA previously supported workers affected by the fires in Southern California through its Wildfire Relief Fund.
“We’re asking for help again, this time for a crisis that’s hitting our own industry even harder,” Rocha explained. “This is not just about charity—it's about solidarity, dignity, and action. Our workers need to know that they are seen, valued, and supported.”
