Celebrity Chef Aarón Sánchez wants to help Latino restaurants do better. Sanchez, who is a judge on MasterChef and chef/partner of Johnny Sánchez in New Orleans, has returned to Discovery Familia and sister network Hogar de HGTV with the second season of his LA restaurant series “El Toque de Aarón” (Aaron’s Touch). The show features Sanchez, designer Cris Mercado and project manager Ángel Riveros working to help Latino restaurants realize their full potential.
“I'm mega excited to be on adventure with all of you in the beautiful city of Los Angeles!” Sánchez posted on April 8, the day the new series debuted. “In this series @crismercadostar @angelriverosofficial and I help the owners of the best Latinos restaurants in the city launch them to the next level. First up will be @elchilenazo_restaurante, an amazing Chilean restaurant in Canoga Park.”
In an interview with FoodSided before the new series’ debut, Sanchez, who also is founder of the Aarón Sánchez Impact Fund, explained the idea behind the concept for the show:
“Drawing from my upbringing, my experience, and what inevitably became my career path, I took all those emotions, knowledge and training to these businesses. My goal is to help them succeed and I want to impart that experience to them,” he said, noting that the restaurants featured are chosen because they’re distinct. “They have beautiful stories and are supported by strong individuals. We wanted to highlight them and make sure that they have that longevity.”
