"In our restaurant, on two occasions the bride and groom have exchanged engagement rings to seal the creation and growth of a future family," says Jesus Valencia, manager of The Agave Mexican Restaurant in Wichita, Kansas.
Stories like these motivate Luis Zambrano, founder of El Agave Mexican Restaurant, and Valencia, to continue growing. A second location is opening soon.
The name of the restaurant is a tribute to the agave, predominant plant in the region, Degollado, Jalisco, Mexico, where the Zambrano family comes from.
"Jalisco is a tequila region, and the tequila needs the agave. The owners, six years ago, decided, as a tribute to their origins, to name their restaurant El Agave Mexican Restaurant," says Valencia, Zambrano's cousin.
They opened in 2011, and now employ 25.
"In the near future we will be opening a second place," Valencia says. “The customers like our food.”
