Looking for a way to help the hospitality community in Houston after Hurricane Harvey? Consider donating to the Hurricane Harvey Hospitality Employee Relief Fund (HERF). The fund will help hospitality employees in Houston as the city recovers from the hurricane and the extensive flooding it caused.
Click here to donate. IMPORTANT: There is a field in the donation form to specify which fund you are donating to, so please indicate that your donation is for the Hospitality Employee Relief Fund. HERF is working with the Texas Restaurant Association and its Greater Houston association chapter to identify who needs assistance and disburse the funds.
This fund is a friendly pay-back from the Louisiana restaurant community, which suffered after Hurricane Katrina. After that hurricane, Alex Brennan Martin of Brennan's of Houston led an effort that raised $1 million for New Orleans' hospitality workers. With this new fund, the Louisiana Restaurant Association and the Commander's Family of Restaurants are repaying that effort.
