After putting out a call to action to young aspiring New Orleans chefs, Chef Aarón Sánchez has selected the first ever recipient for the Aarón Sánchez Scholarship Fund, a young man named Oswaldo Rios (21). Oswaldo, who was raised in New Orleans and comes from a Mexican heritage, was among a very competitive pool of 40 applicants and was ultimately chosen by Aarón to receive the scholarship based on his drive, vision and eagerness to advance his own culinary career. As a result, he will receive a full paid culinary scholarship to the International Culinary Center (ICC) in New York, followed by a paid internship upon his completion of the ICC program.
On September 26th, Aarón and his longtime friend Emeril Lagasse will collaborate together to host an evening benefitting ASSF at Emeril’s Delmonico. Beginning with a cocktail hour meet and greet at 6pm, a three-course seated dinner with wine pairings created by the chefs will follow in the restaurant’s Crystal Rose and Anthony rooms. After dinner, John Besh will join his friends and host a lively Karaoke After-Party complete with desserts and drinks.
Tickets are priced at $500/person if purchased before September 1st, and $650/person after that date.
