The immigration situation has dramatically changed since President Trump took office, and this effects many Mexican/Latin restaurants. The law firm Grossman, Young & Hammond is hosting a webinar on Monday, February 24 at 2 p.m. to discuss these issues.
The law firm’s legal team will break down key changes and their impact on individuals, businesses, and legal practitioners.
Topics Covered:
- Aggressive Enforcement: This includes passage of the Laken Riley Act, expanding expedited removal, eliminating the sensitive locations policy, and prioritizing immigration-related criminal offenses for prosecution.
- Cuts to Humanitarian Protections: The administration has ended parole programs affecting over 530,000 individuals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, revoked the Biden administration’s redesignation of Venezuela of Temporary Protected Status, suspended asylum processing at the border, and halted the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.
- Potential Travel Ban and Other Visa Restrictions: A new travel ban is anticipated by early March for countries that provide, in the administration’s perception, insufficient security-related information; other sanctions (including visa restrictions) may be forthcoming on so-called recalcitrant countries that refuse or delay in accepting the return of their nationals.
- Worksite Enforcement: Employers are likely to face increased compliance scrutiny and workplace enforcement actions.
- Processing Delays: Executive orders as well as personnel changes are likely to cause significant USCIS processing delays.
This webinar is co-sponsored by the Renew Democracy Initiative (RDI) and Abrahamic House.
