The Hispanic Restaurant Association, a non-profit organization headquartered in Denver, is seeking support to help a congressional resolution get over the finish line. The resolution would recognize National Hispanic Restaurant Week during Hispanic Heritage Month. It is expected to be brought to the House floor for a vote on Friday, September 27.
The resolution reads, in part: “By establishing National Hispanic Restaurant Week from September 22nd to October 3rd each year, we can provide a dedicated period to recognize and appreciate these remarkable individuals who have achieved their American dream through their contributions to our culinary world. This celebration will not only highlight their achievements but also inspire future generations of aspiring chefs from diverse backgrounds.”
John Jaramillo, the Hispanic Restaurant Association’s president, says the resolution has garnered congressional support but needs support from the public.
“We need support in several key states to get across the finish line,” Jaramillo says. “Those states include Texas, Florida, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and California. Our ask is that you sign our peitition and reach out to your Senate and House Members asking them to support the resolution.”
