Do you love mezcal and tequila? You may want to attend the first edition of Agave Academy, an afternoon of intensive workshops and tastings designed to educate and inspire members of the wine and spirits trade on the rich culture of Mexico’s spirits. You’re invited to learn from those who literally wrote the books on agave spirits. The academy, June 7 in New York, is part of Tequila/Mezcal Week New York 2016, which runs from June 5 to June 10.
Agave Academy is offering top industry professionals complimentary enrollment. Slots are limited; secure one for yourself or your staff now.
The success of ArteAgave, an annual tequila and mezcal-soaked evening, has prompted an expanded program of events this year*, including rare tastings, pairings, and this exclusive agave-centric study group. As agave spirits continue to gain momentum, it’s important to dispel persisting myths and address issues of sustainability in a climate of rapid growth. Agave Academy will cover the history and evolution of agave spirits, highlight the environmental and socioeconomic issues facing tequila and mezcal, and offer practical information on working with and selling agave spirits.
This gathering of top industry professionals will rotate through a curriculum of three stations in intimate groups. Our author presenters include:
- Chantal Martineau, whose book How the Gringos Stole Tequila, praised in both The Wall Street Journal and The LA Review of Books, discussing the evolution of agave spirits from pre-Hispanic times to today
- John McEvoy, whose popular MezcalPhD blog and book, deemed essential reading by the mezcal community, speaking about mezcal’s meteoric growth
- Tad Carducci of Tippling Bros on contemporary agave cocktails; Dale DeGroff called Tad and Paul Tanguay’s book A Lime and a Shaker “the finest group of spirited agave drinks in print”
A suggested donation of $5 at the door will go to the Tequila Interchange Project.
Complimentary snacks provided by Hecho en Dumbo and $5 specialty agave cocktails to sustain you. Plus, a 25% discount off all the authors’ books.
RSVP to john@johnhenry.co with your trade affiliation to secure your slot today.
